The number of students who applied to Florida A&M University went up from 6,096 in Fall 2013 to 8,952 in Fall 2017. But FAMU admitted less than half of those students in Fall 2017.

For Fall 2017, 48 percent of all applicants were admitted. That number includes applicants to graduate programs, the law school, and transfers.

The percentage of admitted students went up from Fall 2013 through Fall 2015. But then it went down to just 39 percent for Fall 2016, when the university took another hit enrollment that caused it to lose more tuition and fee dollars.

But for Fall 2017, FAMU increased its enrollment to 9,913 students. The freshman class had a GPA average of 3.39. Its average SAT score was higher than the Florida and national averages.

FAMU has a preliminary enrollment of 10,053 students for Fall 2018. The admitted FAMU freshman have a GPA average of about 3.59 to 3.60. FAMU has not announced the GPA average for the enrolled freshman class.

There were over 10,000 applications to FAMU for Fall 2018 and 4,000 did not meet the minimum admissions standards.
