Five Florida A&M University Softball team members were named to the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s Preseason Softball All-Star team announced by the league office Friday morning.
Junior pitcher Kyaira Brown (Tallahassee, Fla.) headed the class of FAMU Women, earning first-team honors.
Sophomore third baseman Hera Varmah (Tampa, Fla.), junior outfielder Jamesia Stoudemire (Lake Wales, Fla.), and the senior outfield duo of Alexis Day (Ocala, Fla.) and Tyra Bowers (Eustis, Fla.) earned second team notices.
Florida A&M was picked to win the 2019 MEAC Southern Division title, garnering 13 of a possible 24 first place votes, with archrival Bethune-Cookman, picked second after getting nine (9) first place votes.
