FAMU graduate Bishop Adam J. Richardson was named the new senior bishop and leader of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, yesterday. Richardson was selected by the churches' Council of Bishops which met yesterday.
Richardson follows former Bishop McKinley Young who passed away in January. Richardson is the 115th consecrated Bishop in the AME Church and is assigned to the 11th Episcopal District which includes Florida and the Bahamas. He is a former member of the FAMU Marching 100 where he served as a drum major.
