George Cotton Sr. the former FAMU Vice President of Advancement and Executive Director of the FAMU Foundation who earlier this year filed a lawsuit against FAMU and President Larry Robinson, alleging retaliation and conspiracy to fire him has been named the and President the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement and Development at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, last week.
Cotton comes to UAPB from the Charles Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit, MI where he was senior vice president of development.
“Cotton brings a wealth of relevant higher education experience to the leadership role in advancement and development at UAPB,” according to a press release. “As a result, he will be able to hit the ground running, building on the history of development, strengthening ties with alumni and other stakeholders and donors, and providing leadership for the various functions of the division, including development, marketing, communications, publications, and the Economic Research and Development Center.”
Prior to joining coming to FAMU, Cotton had been the assistant vice president for major gifts at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, senior director of development for the Wake Forest Baptist Institute for Regenerative Medicine, director of development and alumni affairs for the College of Science at George Mason University, and associate director of institutional advancement at Southern Illinois University.
