The FAMU Rattlers used a big second half to put away the Division II Ft. Valley State Wildcats in the first home football game in Bragg Stadium in two-years due to the COVID-19 pandemic by a score of 34-7.  The Rattler offense struggled mightily in the first quarter behind true freshman Junior Muratovic, who threw back-to-back interceptions.

Muratovic bounced back on his third drive by leading the Rattlers 64-yards down field to connect with Kamari Young for a 15-yard touchdown as the first quarter clock hit zero.

Overall, Muratovic struggled to sustain drives ultimately prompting coach Willie Simmons to replace him with McKay, a redshirt junior, for the final series of the first half.

McKay came in and completed 12-of-16 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

"We have a quarterback situation that's not necessarily settled," Simmons said. "We'll go look at the film as a staff and make some decisions about which direction we'll go."

Defense looked good
FAMU’s defense delivered another strong performance despite one lapse early in the second quarter following an over 30-minute weather delay.

The Rattler defense recorded three sacks and forced three turnovers during the game.. Transfer Deonte Williams came in and made a massive impact for the Rattlers, making three stops in the backfield, including two sacks.

Rattler linebacker Isaiah Land sacked Fort Valley State's quarterback, forcing him to fumble, and Nadarius Fagan scooped it up and ran 45-yards for his first career touchdown. Land also recovered a fumble after Deonte Williams forced one. Defensive back BJ Bohler also made an impact play for the Rattlers, intercepting a deep pass by Fort Valley State and returning it 45-yards.

Florida A&M returns to action this Saturday in Tampa, Florida, versus the USF Bulls.
