Albany State selects FAMU grad Quinn Gray as their 14th head football coach

Albany State (Ga) University has selected FAMU football hall of famer Quinn Gray, Sr. as its14th head football coach for the Golden Rams.

"Quinn Gray's vision, diverse coaching experience, professional playing career, and distinguished HBCU intercollegiate career make him the perfect fit for ASU Football.  Coach Gray's knowledge of football and desire to engage our alumni and fans while mentoring the football student-athletes will enable our program to continue its great tradition," said ASU Athletics Director Tony Duckworth.
 
For the past two seasons Gray served as the senior offensive analyst at the University of Memphis.  Prior to that he served as the quarterback's coach at Alcorn State University from 2020-2022, and served as associate head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterbacks coach at FAMU from 2011-2014 under Earl Holmes.  
 
Gray has had a distinguished career in the NFL where he played six seasons as a quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs.  In addition, he played for the Frankfurt Galaxy, whom he led to the 2003 World Bowl Championship in the NFL Europe League.
 
At FAMU, Gray flourished in Coach Billy Joe’s Gulf Coast Offense becoming the Rattler’s all-time passing leader with 7,378 yards, 1,113 pass attempts, 562 pass completions, and 57 touchdown passes .  He holds the Rattlers single-game record for most pass attempts (65 vs. North Carolina A&T in '01).
 
Gary replaces Gabe Giardina who left ASU, after five seasons, to take the head coaching job at Charleston Southern University.
