It didn’t take long for FAMU President Larry Robinson to name a replacement for Maurice Edington, the university’s outgoing Executive Vice President/Chief Executive Officer who was selected earlier this month as the next president of the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). Robinson, yesterday turned to a familiar face in selecting Donald E. Palm, the current executive vice president/provost at Virginia State University (VSU) in Petersburg, Virginia, as Edington’s successor.
Dr. Palm previously served as associate provost for undergraduate education and a tenured professor in the FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences prior to leaving for VSU in 2016.
“I am pleased to welcome Dr. Donald Palm back to FAMU at this exciting time. He did great work previously at FAMU and even more impressive work while away,” Robinson said. “I look forward to working closely with him to continue our positive momentum in student success and operational outcomes, and the Florida Board of Governors’ performance funding metrics as we march to the top 100 national public universities.”
Palm will begin work on August 14. He will report directly to Robinson. Palm said, in a statement, that "he is excited to be returning to FAMU in this leadership role."
