Simmons, Moussa, and Major garner SWAC top honors

Willie Simmons has been named SWAC Coach of the Year, while quarterback Jeremy Moussa and linebacker Isaiah Major received Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors respectively.
 
"No two guys deserve to be named Players of the Year than Jeremy and Isaiah," said Simmons. "They have unquestionably been leaders on our team, and in the conference this year and two of the most productive players in the country!”  
 
Moussa, finished the 2023 regular season with 2,416 yard passing, 18 passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown, and had two game in which he passed for 300+ yards.  Under Moussa the 27th best scoring offense in the nation.  
 
Major led the Rattler defense with 94 total tackles, 55 solo tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries, two sacks, two pass breakups, a fumble recovery, and a pick-six this season. He is currently ranked 23rd in the nation in solo tackles per game (5), 39th in total tackles per game (8.5), and 57th in tackles for loss per game (1.05). 
 
Simmons, now in his sixth season at the Rattler helm, led FAMU to a 10-1 regular season record and perfect 8-0 conference record and a No. 5 national ranking among NCAA FCS football playing institutions. 
 
Simmons is one of 20 coaches vying for the Eddie Robinson FCS National Coach of the Year Award, while Moussa is among 30 finalists for the Walter Payton Award, given to the FCS Offensive Player of the Year, and Major is a candidate for the Buck Buchanan Award, the FCS' top defensive player. the FCS' top defensive player.
