FAMU has signed a $97.5 million 30-year federal loan
through the U.S. Department of Education’s HBCU Capital Financing Program to construct a new 700-bed student residence hall that is expected to open in August 2025.

The new residence hall will be located along Osceola Street just north of the current FAMU Towers, which opened in 2020.  Once completed, the new dorm will increase the University’s on-campus housing capacity to more than 3,000 beds.

“We see this additional housing as an investment in the success of our students,” said FAMU President Larry Robinson.  “We are very excited about this new addition; these 700 beds will make a huge difference in the lives of our students.”

Construction on the dorm is scheduled to begin next month with an expected completion date in July 2025 in time for students to move in August 2025.
