FAMU's new leader played high school football and baseball at Port St. Joe High School, before earning his bachelors degree from FAMU in 1984. He went on to earn a master’s and doctoral degrees from Florida State University.
Before joining Pasco Hernado State College as the vice president of student affairs , he held staff, faculty and administrative positions at FAMU, Florida State University and the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
