Henry Lewis named Pharmacy Dean

What's old is new again... In a not so surprising move, former Pharmacy Dean Henry Lewis, III has been reappointed to the Dean's position at the College of Pharmacy. Lewis lost the job when he fell out of favor with former university president Fred Gainous.

Considering that interim president Castell Bryant had a strong dislike for Lewis he stood no chance of reclaiming the COPPS top job under her administration.

Lewis, a professor in the college, has previously served as dean of the college. He also served on the transition team for Ammons. The pharmacy school also faces accreditation issues.

You may recall, FAMU paid the Hollins Group $50,000, back in Feburary 2006, to find a new Dean for the College of Pharmacy.

  5. Dr. Barnes will be the new provost. Isn't it just amazing how things work out? Remember when Fred Gainous came in and fired and replaced all those people, including Dr. Barnes? Dr. Barnes was sent back to the classroom. Now, she's provost, and the provost is second in command at a university, which means she calls the shots on the academic side of things, and now, she's Fred Gainous' boss. I know that Fred Gainous is a tenured professor at the university, but if I were him, I'd be skeptical about asking Barbara Barnes for anything. Don't tell me you don't reap what you sow. You go, girl.

  6. Once again, let take this University to a new era. Stop being hypocrites and put your trust first in the Lord and then extend your support to Dr. Ammons and his decisions. Now is a serious time that the University faces. We need your support in the man we hired because we will overcome.

And let those who write the grant proposals get rightful credit for them- this time.
