FAMU Sprinter 5th in Nation in 100M

FAMU sprinter Chris Hargrett is ranked 5th in the nation in NCAA Division 1 in the 100 meter dash, and #2 in the east region. Mr. Hargrett turned in a 10.24. He is one of five Rattler tracksters who have qualified, thus far, for the NCAA East Regionals in Greensboro, NC in June.

Hargrett, a prodocut of Orlando's Dr. Phillips High School, also runs the anchor leg on the FAMU 4x100 meter relay team, which also have qualified for the East Region.

Men's Tennis beats Troy

The Florida A&M Men's Tennis team slipped by Troy University (AL) 4-3 on Saturday, thanks to clutch play in the doubles round.

The FAMU combination of William Mau-asam and Frank Green at #2, battled back from a 6-0 deficit to win the #2 doubles over Milos Kustudija and Pascal Dottinger, 9-8 (7-2), while the #3 duo of Jarrel Williams and freshman walk-on Paul Paige, seized a 9-7 win over Diego Martinez and Marko Kustudija.

In singles, Green was a three-set winner at #2 over Marko Kustudija, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6); Mau-asam was a straight sets winner at #3 over Marko Despot, 6-3, 6-4, with Artiom Podgainii clinching the #6 singles over Diego Martinez, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

The Rattlers (17-7, 10-0 in MEAC) will be the number one seed at the upcoming Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tennis Championships in Raleigh, North Carolina.
