The Florida Legislature ended its 60 day legislative session late last night at 11:45 p.m. leaving FAMU some $31.1 million for capital improvements in this year's state budget.
Thanks in large part to the manuvering of, FAMU graduate, State Senator Al Lawson, the University got everything on its 2006 legislative budget request. Senator Lawson is one of the senior members of the Florida Legislature and worked hard in the closing days to make sure that projects in his district were funded.
Because of his efforts, FAMU got: $9,364,200 for University Commons Renovation; $3,851,140 for Electrical Technology and Infrastructure; $2.5M to equip the new Developmental Research School; $2.850M for equipment for the new Multi-Purpose Teaching Gymnasium and $12,623,450 to remodel Jones Hall.
Go Al! Go Al! Go Al!
ReplyDeleteTo think Castell & Co. (Rosie) just a short year ago tried to say Sen. Lawson did not have FAMU's best interest first.
ReplyDeleteFrom the likes of our incompetent lobbyist, Jackie Maxey, its a wonder we got that much. Just think of all the mess Sen Lawson and others had to cleanup to get this funding.
A BIG thank you Senator Lawson for rising above the pettiness at FAMU.
We love you!
As one who worked the halls of the legislature, Jackie Maxey had no presence in Sen. Lawson's office what so ever. Al did for FAMU inspite of Maxey and CastHell.
ReplyDeleteHey now. At least Jackie Maxey has a catchy name. The congressmen and senators would remember who she is.
ReplyDeleteCatchy name and ridiculus weave!
ReplyDeleteI know personally that is not a weave.
ReplyDeleteSnickering.....
Then what is it? One of those pheasants, shoot 'em Cheney kilt.
ReplyDeleteYelp, just look at all of those different colors.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a pheasant or a quail to me too.

Anybody want to go quail hunting?
Jackie Maxey received the university lobbyist position because she's the daughter of Eva Wanton, Castell Bryant's best friend.
ReplyDeleteIt's most hypocritical for Bryant to fire "ghost" employees for not doing work and then retain laughing stock incompetents like Maxey, Elizabeth McBride, and Debra Austin.
Who will clean up the "Clean Up Woman's" mess?
