Perphaps we've been Newted! But FAMU's athletic programs this year have just, well, sucked! Most recently, we had 5th place finishes in mens and women track. We had subpar finishes in men's and women's basketball falling in the quarterfinals rounds in both. We brought up the rear in Women's tennis, and baseball this year is just stinking up the place. With all the off field antics, this year's football season was doomed from the start.
With few exceptions, our Rattlers have been nothing more than a bunch of harmless garter snakes.
To be fair, men's tennis (2nd place MEAC), volleyball (1st place MEAC), and softball have had pretty good years.
It's clear that our new athletic director, who given his age (64) is nothing more than a short timer, has his work cut out for him. The good news is, and the Rev. Peter J. Gomes (if you don't know who he is google him) always taught me to look for the good news, we can't get any worse than the current state of affairs. Atleast we can hope.
