Lowe's status with Trustees in Doubt

Rattler Nation has learned, that Chairwoman Challis Lowe's reappointment to the FAMU Board of Trustees was not confirmed by the 2006 Florida Legislature. This is a similar fate which befell former Trustee Corey Alston.

Well, it appears that after missing two Senate deadlines for submitting her paperwork Trustee Lowe was not confirmed by the Senate during the 2006 legislative session. Rattler Nation has confirmed that Lowe’s paperwork was hand delivered on April 21 and forwarded to the Senate on May 5th, well after the Senate's final deadline of April 4.

When the Florida Senate, failed to take up the appointment of Trustee Corey Alston; Castell & Co. lobbied hard behind the scenes to insure that no preferential treatment was afforded him by the Governor’s Appointments Office to keep him on the Board. Now, we have learned "Sista Slash & Burn" (aka Mad Black Woman) is working overtime to keep her dear friend and savior on the Board.

Florida Law states that in instances where an individual's appointment is not confirmed by the Senate, that that individual may continue serving on the board to which they were appointed for up to 45 days. After 45 days that indvidual must be reappointed by the Governor or come off the board. Those 45 days have passed, yet Lowe still remains on the FAMU Board.

While Mrs. Lowe was appointed to the FAMU BOT by the state Board of Governors, June 19th (the 45th day) was the last day for them to reappoint her. She now serves at the pleasure of the Governor, and a spokesperson for the Governors Office has said that Mrs. Lowe will continue to serve on the FAMU BOT until the Governor decides to replace her or she decides to resign.

  3. Just knock out that LSAT. Then, we need to send you to Harvard, Yale, Stanford, or Columbia law school.

Then, we need you to come back to be FAMU's General Counsel (goodbye Elizabeth McBride!)

  4. Question: Wasn't Challis Lowe appointed by the Board of Governors?

While we all know that the BOG is merely a rubber stamp for Jeb Bush, it is an important procedural matter. Perhaps we need to publicly pressure the BOG to meet its responsibility to declare Lowe's seat vacant and appoint someone else. That could get the governor moving...

  5. Castell is illegal.

    Challis is illegal.

Do you really think the governor cares?

Just more fodder for the press.

  7. da rattler-
All of the applications of the persons submitted to the selection committee are public records, as are their "essays", committee minutes (verbatim) and their "score sheets". Just ask the general counsel for them

  8. I you ask me; all this is more of Castell and Lowe's chickens coming home to roost. Both those ho's have got to go and if Jeb Bush doesn't use this opportunity to show that he actually half cares for Black folks and the HBCUs then maybe we'll have to impose some sort of injunction against the BOT and Castell.
To this point; this has just been idle chatter by some well-to-do alumni who know high powered attorneys in Florida but, it would appear as though this is a extreme step that needs to be taken to deal with the likes of Bryant and Lowe.
The Judicial System gives those spankings who usually deserve them and Lowe and Bryant need to a good ole fashion azz whopping. Sometimes adults need to be compelled to do what is right.
An injunction may be the only way to teach Castell, Lowe, and the good ole boy/plantation network that installed them that we're not all dumb niggers who are going to sit down and just take the royal screwing that has been perpetrated against the school

  12. Elizabeth McBride will go down in history as the WORST general counsel FAMU ever had.

Who else is giving Dr. Bryant this jacked up legal advice?
