While I have no doubt about the fact that the only interest or justice the father wanted was a guilty verdict not to convict his frat brothers but to strenghen his legal standing.
1) They reject his son from line
2) They are forced by the national office to put the son on line after the father complained
3) The son agrees to be hazed and the father "condones" an illegal pledging process to be sure his son is "made right"
4)The son is hazed and to add insult to injury, the decision is made that the son won't be allowed to become a Kappa.
5) The father gets a civil attorney
6) Castell goes after the relative of a BOT member she has issues with that is a member of the chapter
7) The FAMU police and TPD try to make a case with no witnesses
8) State attorney goes ahead with the case.
9) Mistrial declared
Finally, stop wasting time and money, if the father wants a civil suit, let him sue the fraternity and get it over with.
I am wondering who is the next organization at FAMU to get busted.
Whatever smoking gun the defense had has, I believe, been used in this case. The state now has more than enough ammunition for the next phase. I still believe, however, that nothing really will come of all of this, and the K5 will walk. And they should. The father should go on and pursue civil damages if revenge is what he wants--and it appears that this is what he wants. ChuckH. is a Kappa, he knows what goes on during the initiation phase. I say just call a truce and let folks go on and quit wasting time, $$ and energy on what we all know is much ado about a whole lot more than what we're even seeing here.
Anon 9:05,thanks for the short of the story. Most on the campus already knew the inside moves the administration was going to take. Remember, if it were not a moneymaker, many athletics would likely be outlawed. (At least any mandatory training associated) Some laws and policies are best left out of the criminal realm. Outcomes may be worse than the cause. Many do not know, or understand, what we collectively have ushered into our gates.
I also want to remind you guys that the defense only called 1 witness because the state previously blocked 11 witness that can verify that those boys werent even there and they have recipts to prove otherwise. Stay tuned!
Reciepts from an ATM machine mean nothing at all. It is the camera at the ATM machine that is used to verify transactions. Just because I paid with credit to attend an event does not mean I was there. the proof comes from actual eye witnesses to my where abouts.
This case should have never gone to trial.
ReplyDeleteIt is obviously that the boy got hazed.

Anyone wanna start the pool?
So what happens next? Will these kids be allowed to graduate and get on with their lives?
ReplyDeleteTheir lives will never be the same. None of them, the 5 Kappas, the 27 potentials and their families are forever affected by this.

ReplyDeleteAs somebody stated earlier, the dad wants revenge.
ReplyDeleteFine, when he sues the fraternity and the school, they will settle.
The best thing for everyone is to get past this, let the man get paid like others have and be done with this.
Meanwhile, let the state go back and fix the law. Hopefully, but not probable, this is the last time that hazing will be an issue at FAMU
