It seems that FAMU BoT member W. George Allen, who days ago wrote to his fellow trustees indicating that he does not want to hear from FAMU stakeholders and others regarding their opinions on who should be FAMU's next president had no problem making his opinion known to trustees in July 2004.
Mr. Allen wrote his friend former FAMU BoT Chair James Corbin to express his strong displeasure in a proposed articulation agreement between FAMU & TCC, and went so far as to call for the immediate dismal of former FAMU President Fred Gainous.
Now that he is a trustee, Mr. Allen doesn't want hear from the FAMU community on matters of concern to them. Apparently, he did not/does not understand that being a trustee he is a representative the university and as such we have the right to petition our representatives on who the next preseident of our university should be or any other issue. If he doesn't want to be bothered in such a manner then perhaps he should resign immediately.
The right to petition ones representives is a right we all enjoy in democracy. This right isn't reserved for just the privledged few.

Are you sure Allen wrote this letter? It is full of typos, grammatical errors, and broken sentences. This can not be the work of a fellow who boasts of being one of Florida's top attorneys.
ReplyDeleteNASA we have a problem.
Agreed ...
ReplyDeleteIf THIS is the type of letter that a so called attorney wrote and actually sent out before proofreading, then I would feel real bad for any of his clients.
What I find interesting is that this letter was typed by his staff.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe these fools are still around FAMU. The agreement with TCC would have greatly benefited FAMU. Unfortunately, some people confuse progress with a threat to their own security.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Allen is a hypocrite. Plan and simple.
