Former Interim President Castell V. Bryant quit in May, less than two months before our 10th president, James Ammons, was to arrive.
That move was incomprehensible - how do you weather the storm for 2 years and quit right before your time expires anyway?
Unsurprisingly, Bryant is bitter and has gone on to blast her alma mater in an interview published in the St. Petersburg Times.

Wow! There was nothing second rate about this students response.
ReplyDeleteThe FAMUAN is the truth. I am glad I had the chance to write for it as a student.

ReplyDelete11:51 PM Why am I not suprised they had to spin it so they where #1? It's funny the girl who is featured on the picture started at FAMU and tranferred to FSU her Junior year because she stated they offered her a better financial package, she was already in the College of Engineering, so classwise her education was the same. I wonder if transfers make up a significant factor in FSU's high minority graduation rate? Someone enlighten me.
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteFSU is the No. 1 producer in the United States of African-American baccalaureates among "Doctoral Universities with Very High Research Activity"
Definitely love the spin. Thats like saying the Education building is the tallest structure in the United States among cities in the south with a population less than 180,000.
Hopefully people can recognize spin.
At least it said FAMU is #1 in something posted on fsu website that is postive.
ReplyDeleteHey Da Rattler, post it in your blog so all can see it.
And I know that girl. She was a good student. She was on a private scholarship, FAMU try to take some of her money and she transferred to FSU. I would have to, if I was not a LGB scholar. To make a Long Story short…. If you have award package greater than your fees at FAMU. FAMU will keep the money. But at most university, one being FSU, you get the different refunded to the student to do want he / she with the money. So if your at the College of Engineering The class are the same on matter with school you go to FAMU or FSU.

ReplyDeleteIf you learned how the financial aid process works, then you'll see why her award may have been adjusted. And trust me, I am in no way defending FAMU fin aid, but you must learn how the process works and you'll understand why her refund was the way it may have been.
Strong editorial, Driadonna. Thanks for saying what needed to be said. Cast-Hell stay home and watch "Jeopardy."
ReplyDeleteHere's a question for $1,000.00: Worst president in FL A&M University history? Who is Castell Vaughn Bryant.
Good editorial. We needed that.
ReplyDeleteAn afterthought:
Being #1 in anything educational is a meaningless goal. FAMU's value can't be measured by whether we can find some narrowly defined criterion by which we emerge, temporarily, as #1 in something or other.
Being #1 in recruiting National Achievement Scholars was virtually meaningless. Little more than a PR stunt. One year it's FAMU, another year it's someone else.
Using the scholar recruitment to compare FAMU with places like Harvard is laughable to anyone who has attended an ivy league university with a billion dollar endowment. It is simply not helpful to compare FAMU with Harvard.
We should stop pulling such PR stunts and focus on steady, solid achievements that feed the deep growth of African American success, rather than snagging a few superstars we can temporarily boast about.
It is enough to have a valuable mission and fulfill it, year after year, by doing really good work with students.

ReplyDeleteAND YOU NEED TO CRAWL BACK INTO THE HOLE YOU CAME FROM.
It's interesting how these haters are always on this site writing about our school. I tell ya, I am not interested in things or persons that I have an obviously dislike.
ReplyDeleteGet a life!
Castell speaks the truth. FAMU has turned into a preparatory school.
ReplyDeleteThat's all you got girl? You should have taken those other scholarships!
ReplyDeleteCast-Hell recruited no students and certainly didn't recruit scholars. So to criticize the quality of FAMU students is a direct reflection on her non-recruitment efforts. Then to admit that she didn't spend any time with the students says in this category, too, she failed miserably. She really should just be quiet and enjoy her retirement.
