Former FAMU President Frederick S. Humphries joined the faculty of the Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University this fall as a Distinguished Visiting Research Professor. Humphries will return to FAMU in the start of spring 2008 semester, where he holds the title of Regents Professor. Humphries has an office at the FAMU College of Law.

Humphries is documenting the production of scientific and human resources in America. His central research question is: "How can the United States increase the number of college and graduate students who enter professions within the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields?"

“Training more black scientists and engineers enhances America’s ability to remain competitive with the rest of the world,” said Humphries.

Humphries is no stranger to Nashville having served as president of Tennessee State University prior to his 16.5 year run as president of FAMU.

  2. Let's see if anyone ever invites Castell to be a visiting professor at any elite research university.

I can see the title of her study: "HBCU Destruction 101: A Guide for the Enemies Black Educational Advancement."

  3. This is continued proof that Dr. Humphries is and was an educationl icon not only in Florida but the entire country! He is attacked daily by the simpltons in Florida, but I can not stand people who simply complain. Lets all rally behind donating a yearly schoalrship in his honor at FAMU!!!

  4. That's very true. Institutions like Vanderbilt don't roll out the red carpet for someone unless they believe that person is a national leader in his or her field.

This is further proof that the views of anti-Humphries newspapers like the St. Pete Times aren't shared by the nation's most prestigious universities.

Those that look at the facts -- and not the factless propanganda spewed by the likes of Castell, Corbin, and Carolyn Roberts -- understand how much of an asset Humphries has been to American higher education.

  5. It's amazing. Castell's supporters still haven't figured out that they have no credibility and will never be able to erase all the clean audits that Humphries received from the Florida auditor general.

The anti-FAMU people just won't give up. We've got continue to fight them.

  7. Anyone can plainly see hat this institution is torn, if everyone would just support and not stab each other in the back it would get better. Every day, ask your self what have you done for FAMU to make it better. If all you can say is that you made a negative comment or stopped someone from getting something they deserved or did not support a project to make the school better. Then you have done nothing. Let's get better, smile and say good things, correct the bad. Get busy and strike!!!

  8. It is ashame that a man that has done so much for FAMU and the African American community only gets seven (not including this one) post on a blog where a player who quit a football team gets 23 post. It further proves my personal point that if a white man don't sanction a black hero then we don't or won't praise our own heros!!! Dr. Humphries My Hero My Choice!!!!
