“I think it’s great to be back in pads. The guys are really
excited and we had a good winter conditioning.
The energy and enthusiasm are sky high with the coaches and it trickles
down to the players. We’re going to try to make this the best spring practice
we can and build on this to go into the summer,” Blount said.
Blount, a muscular 6’3, 236 pound senior out of Pittsburgh,
Pa., returns not only as FAMU’s top tackler, but as one of its brightest NFL
prospects. The son of NFL Hall of Famer Mel Blount has football in his blood. But
right now, Blount is focused on helping to lead his team to a winning season.
“Coming off seasons of 4-7, 3-9 and 3-9, as one of the
leaders on the team I have to put everything into this last opportunity with
this last season and try to get the most out of it because at the end of the
day this is my last year. We’ve got to
try to build these younger guys up so we can build on a better season,” Blount
added.
