For the past 11 years, “J-School Journals” has presented Tallahassee residents with documentaries that dive deep into social issues affecting communities locally and worldwide. The biannual showcase continued its legacy with 10 senior FAMU broadcast journalism students premiering their specialized films on April 28 in FAMU’s Lee Hall Auditorium.

The all-female group of student directors and producers represented the next generation of filmmakers. Documentary topics included the impact of loneliness on the elderly community, a student’s college journey while managing lupus, the increasing average age of marriage, the consequences of political party affiliations, the physical and mental impacts of acting on actors, and the adversities that the millennial generation faces.

The student documentarians included: Anjelicia Bruton, Jaclyn Harold, Lyric Mattair, Monica Myrick, Giselle Thomas, Ashley Flete, Aaliyah Wilkerson and Kiah Lewis.
