Justin Ravenel, a senior guard from Lithonia, Georgia, is chasing the FAMU career record for most three-point shots made, and is on a pace which could see him eclipse the standard by season’s end.
Terrence Woods (2002-04) splashed 279 shots from distance in two seasons (2003, 2004), leading NCAA Division I in three-pointers both seasons.
Presently, Ravenel is shooting 50.6% (42 of 83) from distance, and has been on a torrid pace over the last five games since going 0 for 5 against South Alabama on Dec. 1.
Ravenel has hit 18 of his last 31 shots from distance (58%), going a combined 8 of 11 Monday (5 of 6) against Utah, and Tuesday (3 of 5) against Oregon.
Heading into the Oregon game, Ravenel ranked 11th in Division One in three-point percentage; 14th in total three-pointers made per game; and 41st in total three-pointers made.
FAMU has 19 games remaining on the 2018-19 slate, and at his current pace of 3.1 three made per game, Ravenel has a great shot at surpassing Woods.
