Florida A&M University finished the fiscal year ending (FYE) in 2018 with $9.3M in private gifts.
“As of June 28, the 2017-2018 annual giving amount is $9.3M ($4.1M Cash + $5.2M pledges and planned gifts,” President Larry Robinson wrote in his self-evaluation for the Board of Trustees in 2018.
Universities are required by federal law to include pledges as part of their end-year fundraising total along with actual cash received. A Rattler Nation report from June 13, 2018 listed the total for the cash gifts but not the pledges. A correction has been made to that story.
FAMU received $5.8M in gifts in 2014-2015 and $6.5M in 2015-2016. The total from 2016-2017 was $8.5M.
Robinson wrote that in 2016-2017: “Annual giving was $8.5M ($5.2M Cash + $3.3M pledges and planned gifts.”
Shawnta Friday-Stroud, former dean of the FAMU School of Business and Industry, has been leading the Division of University Advancement since January 5, 2018. She said that FAMU has already raised more than $7M during the first half of FYE 2019.
