On any given day, Lewis, who works for the College of Law through Owens Realty Services, is seen throughout the College of Law campus ensuring trash is emptied, tables are polished, windows are streak-free and restrooms are inviting.
The students wanted to show gratitude to their unsung hero as a thank you for her hard work and dedication.
“We all have strong beliefs in giving back and showing appreciation in our communities,” said Devin G. Young, first-year FAMU Law student. “We hope to continue to show our appreciation and pay our respects to those who take pride in their work without any expectation of such recognition. Miss Madis is truly deserving of this recognition.”
The presentation was made in the College of Law’s student lounge during the lunch hour.
“Most people know of our existence from step shows and strolling, which we do well,” said Lillian Dickey-Davis, second-year student and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. “However, the service we render to our communities does not end with graduation.”
The members of Divine Nine Greek Fraternities and Sororities at the College of Law comprise more than 10 percent of the student population.
