The FAMU College of Laws unveiled a portrait of Bishop Holifield, the retired FAMU General Counsel who played role in leading the charged to have the college reestablished.
Under the direction of former FAMU President Frederick Humphries, Holifield, a Harvard Law School grad, worked with legislators for over five years to have the college re-opened after it closed in 1968.
The portrait which now hangs in the atrium of the law school's Orlando building serves as a permanent reminder of the sacrifices required to reestablish the law school for visitors to the FAMU College of Law campus.
Holifield is a previous recipient of the FAMU College of Law’s Vanguard Award.
