FAMU Center for Biological Control wins international award

The FAMU Center for Biological Control in the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences has received the International Integrated Pest Management Award of Recognition for 2021.

The FAMU Center for Biological Control develops new knowledge concerning the use of living organisms to control pests and diseases in farm plants and animals.  The USDA funded Center conducts its own research and collaborates with other researchers on sustainable control strategies to meet the needs of the agriculture industry in Florida and the southeast.

The recognition is considered one of the most prestigious awards an IPM team may receive.  FAMU researchers competed for the award against researchers from around the world.

Lambert Kanga serves as director of the FAMU Center for Biological Control.

In addition to Kanga, FAMU's IPM team includes Muhammad HaseebBenjamin HottelRaymond HixJesusa LegaspiStephen HightWills Flowers, and Manuel Pescador.

The award will be officially presented to Kanga and FAMU's IPM team at the International IPM Symposium in 2022.
