FAMU AD Tiffani Dawn Sykes is once again under fire as criticism mounts over her latest fundraising effort, a raffle for a Telfar Bag purse, sparked outrage among students and alumni alike.
The move has earned her the derisive nickname "VP of Raffles" among critics who argue that it underscores her lack of vision and strategic planning for the university's athletic department.
The announcement of the raffle was met with swift backlash on social media, with many expressing embarrassment and frustration over what they perceive as a misguided attempt at fundraising.
"Here we go again, this is embarrassing," one user remarked, while another quipped, "This is giving very gofundme.”
“Man let me know when the fish fry dinner is. Lol," wrote another.
President Larry Robinson, a vocal supporter of Sykes, has to be acutely conscious of her shortcomings and cannot overlook the criticism surrounding her leadership, given the AD's numerous struggles and missteps during her 14 months on the job have been widely observed.
Insiders within the university have also raised concerns about Sykes' leadership style, citing allegations of bullying and a refusal to collaborate with other administrators. Her infamous boisterous tone, and her near-constant “word salads” that fails to convey any sort of message.
Skyes' blunders persist, seemingly accumulating with each passing day, solidifying her reputation without leaving much space for sympathy at her level of authority. What was once whispered behind closed doors during her inaugural year has now spilled into the public domain, particularly evident following the protracted hunt for a head football coach.

ReplyDeleteRobinson is on the clock for this hire, this woman is not an Athletic Director. To let Overton get away and the misguided firing of Goshe shows Robinson does not have a clue about athletics himself. How in the world did this woman even get on the list to be chosen for this job.
