The FAMU Foundation board of directors Friday, made the decision to postpone a crucial budget amendment concerning the salary package for newly selected FAMU president, Marva Johnson. This delay comes as the board awaits additional information regarding the request and the absence of any contract details for Johnson, which had not been received as of May 29.

Two weeks ago, in a recent contentious meeting, the FAMU Board of Trustees approved a salary range for Johnson between $450,000 and $750,000. The state of Florida contributes $250,000 towards the compensation of university presidents, meaning the FAMU Foundation is responsible for securing the remaining funds, including any bonuses and incentives.

Johnson's request for a base salary of $750,000 significantly exceeds that of her predecessor, Larry Robinson, who earned $451,711 in his final year as president. This proposed salary increase of over $298,000 has raised concerns among some members of the foundation board, who have expressed doubts about the feasibility of supporting such a high-end salary request.

  1. Marva if you are looking for a sign, THIS IS IT... they don't want you! Reconsider your career path now, is this really what you want to deal with?
