Missing mail central to NAA decertification plot

Rattler Nation has learned that Trustees W. George Allen was notified prior to last Friday's BOT Audit Committee meeting by Alumni Affairs Executive Director (and Castell good girlfriend) Altha Manning and VP of Audit and Compliance Rufus Little that the University had been delinquent in providing key information to the auditor conducting the FAMU NAA's audit.

We have further learned that, Mrs. Manning did not inform the Alumni Association's executive board, or the general membership, during the Winter Meeting in Atlanta that she had be withholding the association's mail from the IRS since August 2006.

In the tangled web that has become Castell Bryant's FAMU over the past 26 months, we understand that the Alumni Association's mail is sent to the Office of Alumni Affairs, and ordinarily critical information would be forwarded to the NAA President. However, since Castell appointed Mrs. Manning executive director, that hasn't been the case. And, Mrs. Manning has been keeping important mail from the NAA leadership.

  1. what the deal. They are "holding" mail destined to go TO the IRS or mail FROM the IRS. Either way, Manning knows she is in the wrong.

  2. From the IRS to the NAA. And other important mail that association leaders need to know about.

  6. Let me make sure I've got this right:

    - The Interim Administration withholds information about the National Alumni Association from the State of Florida's auditor.

    - The Interim Administration receives mail sent to the National Alumni Association by the Internal Revenue Service and rather than forwarding it, holds it for several months.

    - The Interim Administration cites the State auditor's report and overdue IRS paperwork as reasons to decertify the National Alumni Association!

If this is true, it sounds illegal. But one thing anyone can agree on, it's unethical, unjust, immoral, and a terrible blot on the Interim President, her appointees, and any Trustees who knowingly go along with it.

RN, if you've got the goods, I'd say there should be plenty of attorneys who'd love to see justice done!

  7. Oh, justice will be done. McBride and company won't be able to dig them out of this. Matter of fact, they will probably go down with them. When the feds get involved in things like this, it's usually curtains for the players. And they ARE involved. ;)
