In an exchange between Sen. Gwen Margolis and Auditor Ted Sauerbeck, during yesterday's Joint Legislative Auditing Committee, Mr. Sauerbeck told legislators there never was a surplus.

The exchange went like this:

Margolis: What about the $8M surplus. Have you ever found the $8M?

Ted: No. the actual number wasn’t there when we did the audit in ‘06. We will look again when we do the next financial audit this year.

Margolis: Was there a surplus?

Sauerbeck: No.

Audit shows $10.4 deficit

The incredible shrinking surplus

  1. Can we get that bonus and raise back with interest? Who ever made the motion to give her this loot in the first place? If someone knows please tell.

  2. Following this logic, then the entire Board needs to get fired for not doing due diligence correct?

  3. How many times did RN say there wasn't a surplus?

  4. You guys remember Corey Alston who always spoke up against Castell and company...he revealed back then there was no surplus....Lord, why did he leave? He was the best thing on the Board other than Holmes!

  5. Do any of you remember: Barney Bishop who saw through Castell's lies from the onset. Blessings go out to Mr. Bishop who certainly had the better spirit of discernment for CVB's outrageous attack on the future of FAMU.

  6. Castell, if she gave a hoot about the university, which we can see that she doesn't, should, for one, give back that $85 thousand bonus/raise. She lied to get it, so she should just put up or shut the muck up.
