Auditor takes issue with Castell

Florida's top auditor is taking issue with claims by interim Florida A&M University president Castell Bryant that she never requested an internal review by the school's inspector general, who was later fired.

The review is one of two by Michael Brown that have never been published. But given what he called "discrepancies" with Bryant's claims, Auditor General Bill Monroe wrote in a report released late Tuesday that the FAMU Board of Trustees should refer the matter to the state task force now watchdogging the university's finances.

"Our audit disclosed correspondence from the former Inspector General to the President indicating the President was aware of and had requested the review," Monroe wrote in FAMU's most recent operational audit, "and we visually observed the work papers supporting the review."

Not all of them have ...

    "What's changed since yesterday?"

  7. Castell Bryant has been passing the blame on everyone else (past administrators, etc.) and not taking responsibility for her own actions. My thing is, if you are going to lie, don't leave a paper trail!!!!

  8. Liars, criminals in general are usually not smart, JUST GREEDY!

  9. What does the BOT have to say about that $35,000 raise and $50,000 bonus they awarded the woman before the real numbers came in? The BOT needs to demand that the $$ be given back, based on the multitude of lies that have been told.

  10. Now where are the poor mislead fools that were screaming about how hard we were being on Lying Witch of Liberty City- We obviously weren't misogynist we just smelled her isht when she said it was all roses.
I still pay for her victims from the Institute on Urban Policy and Commerce. They were indeed massacred but not before they were lied on, talked about, and reputations sullied by that incompetent witch with a capital B.

  11. Boy. I tell ya. Yall were all up in Barney Bishop's grill when he was questioning this lady.

He saw right through her, just like Nikki Giovanni saw through Cho at Virginia Tech and a parent saw through Dillan Clebold at Columbine.

Now he is looking like a daggone genius and Holmes and Duncan and others gotta eat crow and wipe egg off of their faces.

  14. 11:52--It's not that the other Board members didn't know what Barney Bishop was saying was true and correct. It's simply that he is white, and as an outspoken critic of Castell, his words and manner were not going to be embraced by the Board. You can't tell me that these people didn't know what BB was saying was right on target, but they were damned if they would allow him to say it in that public forum w/o some type of repercussions. Oh, yes, do not be fooled. They all knew and they all knew it when Barney was saying it. But how could they agree with this person and not be considered a sell-out? Hell, we all knew. But we are not on the Board, so what we said in the company of our friends, colleagues and acquaintances was very different from the Board members having to be quiet. But again I say, they knew it then, and they know it now that they knew it then.

  15. I don't think the issue at this point is if BB was right then or now, the point is we need to concentrate on getting that witch out of Lee Hall and turning FAMU around.

  16. The point of the comment was not about the rightness or wrongness of BB and what he said, when. The comment was brought to the table, thus a response to the comment. In terms of "getting" CVB out of Lee Hall, well, there is no "getting" to be done; it's the "coming" that we're anticipating. That, mind you, will be with Ammons' presidency come July 2nd. So, dear, the "getting" has already been gotten.

  17. Yes, stop the lying and give the money back. Unpaid employees who have worked and not been paid deserve that money. Repairs in student living facilities could have been done so kids do not have to go on-campus to wash clothing because there is mold and rust in the pipe lines in the dorms. Employees and students who lost everything, due to layoffs and late or no net checks, would appreciate that money now. The devil has to go!! What happened to the mission of the University? Excellence With Caring!! Where was the caring when all of this happened?? Rattlers hold on we only have 2 months left. GOD has brought us through the storm and he will not leave us now. When Castell leaves, she is going to have to call on the name of Jesus. Remember, the word states, whatever a man sows, he must reap it. Thanks to rattlernation, for keeping everyone informed!! Keep up the good work!!

  18. Revised comment 3:18p,

I meant to state kids have to go off-campus to wash clothing. I got caught up in how terrible that is. Imagine mold and rust in the lines where you can't wash clothes. What about taking a shower!! A change must come!! Don't let the devil destroy those historical sites. I'm sure that many successful alumni would give back to ensure that the history of those facilities are perserved. Most importantly, suitable for students to live in!! Visit some of the other HBCUs and look at the historical buildings. Absolutely beautiful. For example, travel to Alabama A&M University in Huntsville!! A beautiful site!! Dr. Ammons is going to bring a change. Look at the changes he did to North Carolina Central!! Those facilities are beautiful. We welcome you back home with a new vision and caring spirit for this institution.

  19. James Ammons had better come with his fins on, because he has been christened "the man who walks on water."

  20. I am a realist.

I think that for the past two years FAMUans have become mentally, emotionally and even physically fatigued from feeling so dejected, defamed, dissatisfised under this regime that we just NEED a change.

A "change gon come" with Ammons, but let's not elevate him so high that we do not allow him his rights as a human and a leader to make mistakes.

Also, let's not get so caught up in this current trans-Castellian moment and the future post-Castellian moment that we set ourselves up to be like our Board was during their post-Ganiousonian moment. Remember how they wanted Gainous gone so bad that they let Castell do whatever she wanted to do in order to "cast the hell" that she did?

Let's not make the mistake of uncritically accepting Ammons or his decisions because we are so psychologically worn. We set ourselves up for let downs when he makes the inevitable unpopular decisions.
