Construction on teaching gym progressing nicely

Construction on the $48 million new FAMU teaching gym is progressing nicely. The foundation for the 10,000 gym has been poured and the building is currently being framed.

RN perhaps when you mentioned the teaching gym costing $48 million, you meant including permits, etc.

The actual construction cost is $34,200,000.

Equipment cost, furniture, etc.... was included in the total cost.

Does anyone know what is going to happen to the old Gaither gym?

When CVB was here the plan was to mke it a woman athletic complex

That actually isn't a bad idea, as long as we don't name it after Castell.

^that won't happen! Gaither Gym already has a name! ^

RN--do you mean "10,000 sq. feet" or just "10,000 whatever," ?

nurattler, just make sure that the equipment and furniture actually stays in the new complex.

Off-Topic:
Regarding the firing of Reuben Carter, Dr. Ammons said that the man had done "a tremendous job." A "tremendous job"?? If he had done such a "tremendous job", how come he fired the man? Now, before y'all start kicking me offline, I agree that the man needed to be fired, but Ammons doesn't need to talk out of both sides of his lips. If you aren't saying true and right things, then just don't go making up stuff just for the public to say good things about you. Obviously, Carter knows that, apparently, he had not done a "tremendous job," or he would still be the coach. Why make a big deal out of such a small thing? Because what comes out of your mouth is important, that's why, and people pay attention to small things, and the larger things won't be questioned. That's why.

"Tremendous job" could mean many things. It could mean that he did a tremendous job of coming to work everyday. I see nothing wrong with Dr. Ammons' statement. Dr. Ammons took the high road in not publicly criticizing Coach Carter and saying that he did a lousy job. I commend the president for being a classy guy.

Tremendous as in a tremendous job in losing 8 games.

I don't know, but I believe that statement has a double meaning.

Here is a different take on the Carter firing.

Thanks 11:12 P.M. I think this was a well balanced article on the situation.

7:38, no one said that Dr. Ammons didn't take the high road by not criticizing the man. We all know that he wouldn't do that.
Duhh-h-h-h. We know that Ammons has class. Duhhh-h-h-h. But like the poster below you said, Carter did a tremendous job in losing important games (as well as unimportant games) this season. Plus, we all know that Ammons didn't mean that the guy did a tremendous job of "coming to work everyday." Nothing's "tremendous about that when you have bills to pay and obligations to fulfill. I guess your writing on this blog is a "tremendous" piece of writing, huh?
