This Tuesday, August 26, marks one Florida's earliest primary for federal, state and judicial elections. The earlier than usual primary will undoubtably confuse many voters who are used to casting their ballots after Labor Day, and we'd have to believe that that's just how the Republicans in charge of this state wanted it.
That being the case, this is still a high stakes election given Florida's precarious budget and the many important decisions which must be made. There's a lot on the line for FAMU, and for that reason Rattler Nation has made the decision to weigh in on some important elections around the state.
For Fl House, Dist. 8: Alan Williams has emerged as the standout among this crowded field of candidates to represent parts of Leon and Gadsden Counties. He's knowledgeable, is hands-on, experienced, accessible, and involved in the community. In a sense, Alan Williams has demonstrated that he knows the people, the problems, and will work for the solutions.
His connections are undeniable, and he has the energy, skills and tenacity to be the kind of strong leader that House District 8 has lacked since voters gave Al Lawson a promotion to the Florida Senate.
For FL House, Dist. 14: Rattler Nation strongly recommends Mia Jones for this Duval County based seat. Like Alan Williams, Mia holds both bachelors and masters degrees from FAMU.
She has been a strong and effective voice on the Jacksonville City Council and has the intellect and temperament to be an effective leader in the Florida House of Representatives.
Also, like Alan Williams, Mia is has been active in the FAMU National Alumni Association and has served as president of the JRE Lee Chapter. Mia is running against a very colorful, opponent, who at times can be somewhat of a public embarrassment. The people in District 14 deserve better than that, that's why we're recommending Mia Jones.
Rattler Nation took a long and exhaustive look at all of the candidates in each race and have come to the conclusion that not only do Alan Williams and Mia Jones stand head and shoulders above the competition in their respective races, but their community service, leadership, and experience strongly suggests that they are two who won't have to be trained.
Williams and Jones represent REAL Rattlers for REAL change who will be good for FAMU and good for Florida. On next Tuesday they deserve your vote.
Alan has my complete support!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTwo great choices.
ReplyDeleteAlso, don't forget about Dwight Bullard !
I met Alan Williams last year at a semi-political function, and I was immediately impressed. He has been campaigning long and hard, and I wish him all the best. He's young, smart, untarnished by scandals, has great leadership abilities, and he's a personable young man, which goes a long way in the dirty world of politics. He appears to be a sincere guy, also. I think he'll be a good rep for the district and a good "replacement" in Richardson's slot. I'm very excited for him.
ReplyDeleteI would encourage all to do your "homework" get to know all the candidates and make an informed decision.
ReplyDeleteTaking money from special interest and PACS should be something you consider.
