Back in 2016, then-Gov. Rick Scott appointed Belvin Perry to the FAMU BOT. On Friday, Perry became the chair of the B-CU BOT after members of the board ousted Chair Michelle Carter-Scott from the post.
According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, “Perry promised that moving forward the board would work more closely with the administration to resolve B-CU’s problems, which include millions of debt from a student housing project now under federal investigation and a probationary sanction by a regional accrediting body.”
Perry is an attorney with Morgan and Morgan PA. He previously served as the chief judge in Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit. Perry received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Tuskegee University and law degree from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University.
