Debate over pay raise continues
FAMU Board of Trustees Chairwoman Challis Lowe said Wednesday, she is "open-minded" about including FAMU lab school staff in a proposed raised for overall University faculty and staff.
Lowe considers raises for FAMU DRS employees and University employees two separate issues, despite the fact that DRS employees are also University employees since the school is owned and operated by the FAMU College of Education.
Audit Further Delayed
The long awaited 2005 FAMU Financial Audit has been further delayed. State Auditors and FAMU officials met recently to go over some issues and a draft is expected to the University by the end of the month .
While it has taken an unusally long time for the audit to come out, the thinking is that the FAMU Adminstration is trying to slow the audit down until after the next Board Meeting. See: Under the Microscope
Minutes from the December 1, 2005 BOT meeting show that Chief Financial Officer and Vice President Gerald Dunn told the Board that State Auditors told him that several "jounal entry adjustments" needed to be made. Dunn, told the Board that this is quite common. However, once you've turned your taxes into the IRS, they generally don't allow you to make changes on mistakes they discovered without a penalty. Until FAMU grows up and hires administrators with experience running real universities and not former Junior College administrators, FAMU will continue to be a second class school. Remember what they said? You cannot teach what you don't know.
