After an exhaustive search, and much research, the FAMU Homecoming Concert Committee has settled on "Lil Wayne", "T-Pain", "Plies", "Lil Boosie", "Webbie", and Musiq Soulchild.

The homecoming concert is produced by the Student Government Association.

Tyler Cheatham, concert committee chair said, SGA "did online polls and selected the top ten, then finalized the list based on price and availability."

A complete list of homecoming activities can be found here.

  1. are there any event for the old folks? i mean, old folks like fun things, too! and i'm not talking about some ol' gospel concert on the Sunday following homecoming. old folks like to do things beside go to church and listen to gospel concerts all the time. how about some justin timberlake or jLo or alicia keys type of folk. no disrespect, but we don't want to necessarily hear ol' tired shirley caesar and the gospel nightingales and those people ALL the time. good grief!

  2. There may be some things for old folks, but the old folks gonna have to organize them... and not count on SGA to spend their money doing it. If we had an NAA with half a brain this would be where they fit in.

  3. I'ma young ole head(37) as Michael Baisden would say. Hell, I enjoy going to folks house eating and drinking adult beverages more than fighting traffic to go to some venue.

Let the young kids have their fun and make your own.

    I'm so ready for Homecoming!!!

  4. 8:46--I didn't necessarily say that I was looking for an out-of-my league Homecoming activity. I can most definitely find my own niche on that weekend and any other wknd for that matter. I'm just saying that there are enough older folks in administration to make something happen for older folks. after all, we have a lot of $$ power. Plus, I'm older than thirty-seven, so I most definitely don't include traffic, a bunch of hollering and shouting and fighting humongous crowds my cup of tea. Been there. Done that. And ain' tryin' to go back there any time soon.

  5. I had a chance to party with the "ole heads" in birmingham a couple weeks ago and as a 21 year old i can say, Don't NOBODY DO IT LIKE A RATTLER ALUMN!!! I'd rather see a Frankie Beverly and Maze concert with the alumni than any of this foolishness SGA got coming. If they were smart, they'd do provide an all around ticket of performers to draw a bigger crowd which equals more money.

  6. "Man!" ...

You know times are gittin' bad out here ... When crumbs like Justin Timberlake and J-Lo are now considered as Old School!

I totally agree with not thinking that all us "just over 40" something Rattlers are looking for Bobby Jones & The Winans and whatnot, but I'm also wondering what kind of act(s) would indeed appeal to the "Mid-Schooler", that would warrant their support.

Perfect example ... What is being offered in the ATL this coming weekend that is targeting that group ...

As well as next weekend in Indy ... and even in Orlando in November?

... "Are us 40 somethings the 'Forgotten Rattlers' or something?"
