FAMU rose to the Number 7 spot in U.S. News & World Report 2020 Best HBCU rankings, an increase of two slots, and No. 123 overall among public universities.

Among, national universities FAMU came in at No. 254 in the ranking, the highest of any public HBCU in the national university category.
“These rankings are an indication of the excellent work of faculty, staff, administrators and, most importantly, our students themselves,” said President Larry Robinson, Ph.D. “We continue to implement innovative and time-proven strategies to ensure the success of our students in every aspect of their lives.”
From year-to-year, rankings can rise and fall, however FAMU’s steady ascent in the U.S. News survey these past few years is a wonderful external endorsement of the extraordinarly talented community of faculty, staff and students do every day to make FAMU one of leading universities in the nation.
In the same ranking Florida State University cracked the top 25 ranking of the nation’s best public universities with a No. 18thranking.  This was the first time FSU broke the Top 25. Their ascent was fueled by more than $61 million in additional state investments since 2013-14.  FAMU, on
the other hand, did not have the luxury of additional state investments.
With just a little bit of investment, FAMU could have potentially finished among the top 3 HBCUs in the nation.
