The FAMU baseball team advanced in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) tournament on Thursday evening, defeating the Grambling State Tigers 17-7.
Freshman Carson Kelly, boasting an impressive season record of 8-3, took the mound for FAMU and earned the win. The left-handed pitcher delivered a solid performance, completing five innings and allowing five earned runs on six hits. Kelly also managed to strike out four batters while issuing just one walk.
Senior Ty Jackson played a pivotal role in the Rattlers' offensive onslaught, amassing four hits and driving in four runs. FAMU's lineup demonstrated consistent scoring ability, managing to put runs on the board in six different innings throughout the game.
The Rattlers will now eagerly await the result of the Grambling State and Alabama State clash to determine their next opponent.
