The FAMU Rattlers baseball team broke a 5-5 tie in the seventh inning to defeat the Southern Jaguars 8-5 on Wednesday in the opening round of the SWAC Tournament.
Junior Cody Williams (3-1) secured the win out of the bullpen for the Rattlers, who now hold a 28-25 record. Williams pitched two innings, conceding one run on three hits, while issuing one walk and striking out one. Senior Caleb Granger started the game, delivering six innings and giving up four runs (two earned) on nine hits, with one walk and five strikeouts.
The Rattlers will now advance to the second round of the SWAC Tournament, where they will face Grambling State on Thursday, May 23, at 6 p.m. Eastern. The game will be broadcast on the SWAC Digital Network.
