Since FAMU launched its new athletics website the weekend of ESPN's visit to campus, not much has changed with the site.
The same links that didn't work then still don't work, and the site has rarely been updated. One such link is the "get tickets" link.
There's still an ad for the 2008 Florida Classic which was played last month, and the front page is still touting a visit by ESPN Game Day.
There's no current information about any of the major sports, and the page for bowling offers a preview of the season, though they've already been crowned conference champs this year.

I've been saying the same thing on another MB. A non-updated website means you no longer exist and just have not taken down your site yet.
ReplyDeleteI looked at the other MEAC schools, all them have nice websites with up to date info and scores of all games. We are winning in spite of ourselves. Imagine if we actually did the normal shit correctly, we'd be football national champions every year.
The entire FAMU website is completely screwed up. FAMU IT is run by idiots and they are wrecking the whole school.
ReplyDeleteThe site not being updated has nothing to do with EIT. It's the end users (The Athletic Dept) that isn't updating it with info.
ReplyDeleteKinda like if you don't update your facebook/myspace page it ain't facebook or myspace fault.
ReplyDeleteOverhaul FAMU Athletics. Get rid of Bill Hayes, Al Hollins, Ron Johnson, Coach Malone, and that no personality woman in the ticket office. Enough's enough!!
ReplyDeleteLook, FAMU EIT has mandated that the entire FAMU website has to be redone according to their template. This is being done while we are preparing for the SACS visit. This has created a tremendous burden on faculty and staff and it is completely unnecessary. The input procedure they have established is inefficient to put it mildly. They have shut down the irattler system at the height of registration--the spring semester startup is likely to be a disaster as a result. The PeopleSoft system is still a total mess. EIT does everything for their convenience without consulting anyone else. The internet and email system continues to be third rate and unreliable. I could go on and on--these people are totally incompetent.
ReplyDeleteWell is it the Athletics Dept or the EIT? Or is it the leadership not ordering everyone to play nice?
ReplyDeleteHow Hollins still has a job with the marketing we've got is beyond me, but whatever. As difficult as it is to stream FAMCast like they did ALL YEAR, I find it hard to believe that an updated website is so difficult. There is something just missing on this point, or there is not a priority.
Bill Hayes, Al Hollins, and Ron Johnson need to be fired with all deliberate speed. And I agree with an earlier poster, fire the Ladies Track Coach also. She's a disgrace to FAMU and whoever hired her should be terminated or reprimanded.
ReplyDeleteI tried telling folks putting Robert in charge was a big mistake. He does not know what he is doing. The EIT side of FAMU has always been a weak link, the fact we still behind in offering online classes which is a good way to make money and increasing enrollment without it being a burden on the campus is proof of that. They don't even have a properly staff department for the web side which is why it's so screwed up. They been telling folks they was rolling out a new web site for at least 2 years now. Their so called CMS system is a joke compared to others I have seen.
ReplyDeleteGive him one more year if he doesn't show why he deserves to be over EIT then he needs to be removed.
One more time folks, EIT has nothing to do with providing content for the athletic department website !!!!! Also, EIT in no way mandated that individual programs switch to the new FAMU web template, that was an office of communications call.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like FAMU Athletics has dropped the ball. Please send Bill Hayes, Mickey Clayton, Al Hollins, and Ron Johnson packing...yesterday!!!! They don't have a clue.
ReplyDeleteDitto 9:00 a.m.
ReplyDeleteEIT is primarily responsible for the disastorous website. It is not rocket science and FAMU has NEVER lived up to their obligation to provide relevant quality technology services to students, staff, and faculty!
(By the way, check out NCCU's new and much improved website)
The department is notorious for employing unqualified personnel at exorbant salaries - but remember we were told with the new administration that there would be transparency in administrative operations. Well in the name of transparency how many of you know that:
1- Robert Seniors is related to Ammons
2- The position description for the CIO position was "dummied" down to only require a bachelor's degree, when previously it required a graduate degree
3- The EIT staff are livid with this cronyism and in some instances intentionally don't perform at the level in which they should
Long story short - people are tired of the B.S.
An advanced degree, exposure to high performing technologically productive enterprises and outside work experience should be minimal quailifiactions for anyone taking on a CIO positions especially in academia - but when we get serious about advancing FAMU and not our own personal agendas we could elevate the university to heights currently unknown to man!!!
The Athletic Department DOES NOT control the Athletic Website.. Duu hhh that's why the information is not being updated. The Sports Information Department of Athletics do NOT have access to update the website. So Stop Bashing those guys they are a great asset to the Athletic Department and proficient in what they do. If you dont work in the athletic department you dont know.. so dont be so nasty..... Support the Athletic Department instead of bashing it every chance you get..... yes.. some things need to be done, but dont be so harsh.
