According to the Tallahassee Democrat, eleven of 15 students, full-time tutors and professors that man the Writing Resource Center at Florida A&M University are on strike.
Because of missed paychecks that led to the strike, center director Veronica Yon said the center is down to a skeleton crew.
At midday Thursday, only one FAMU student was being tutored, and the usually well-used center had no one sitting at its computers.
"That's bad," said freshman Aldreya Acosta, who walked in and had to schedule an appointment for the next day to be tutored. Usually, walk-ins can be accommodated, but with just two students and two professors tutoring now, appointments are necessary.
"I'm working on it," FAMU Interim President Castell Bryant said on Thursday, after a trustees' budget committee that included a discussion of the widespread delays and lack of pay this semester at the university.
